2007 Coaster Web Awards: Results
The results are in for the 2007 Coaster Web Awards. In total there were 9,421 votes cast in 10 different categories. Thank you all very much for taking the time to vote and helping us get such a large response. Since several sites were nominated for more then one award, the winning site’s names will be posted below and their awards with them. So without any further ado, the winners are…
Roller Coaster Pro, or RCPro, is the winner of the best design award. There were several quality designs, but RCPro pulling in 37% of the vote to win. I think if you go to their site, it is easy to see why it won the design award. It is easy on the eyes, and has an organized feel. They recently launched news forums which look great and I think helped push them over the edge for the design award. Congrats to RCPro and we look forward to seeing the big plans you have in the future.
The Coaster Critic’s Blog is the winner of the best blog award. There was a lot of competition for this award, but as the days went on, the Coaster Critic’s Blog started to pull ahead. At the end of the voting period it captured a whopping 49% of the vote. One of the biggest reasons that I feel this site won was its varied up-to-date content. Every time you go to the Coaster Critic’s Blog there is something new and fresh. He lets his opinion known and has some great pictures, trip reports, and knowledge based pieces.
Coaster Image is the winner of the top photography award. There were a lot of great sites to vote for in this award category, but Coaster Image left the other well behind capturing 47% of the vote. I think there are three reasons why this site took the cake. The first is that it is frequently updated with new pictures. The second is that the pictures are of a high quality. And the last reason is that it has continued to stay popular ever since it burst onto the coaster scene.
In the Loop is the winner of the favorite podcast award. Ever since In the Loop first appeared on the net, it has been popular. In the Loop is actually three different types of podcast; a daily show, an at park show, and they just started doing video podcasts. Congratulations of In the Loop who captured 42% of the vote. Sadly, the Kevin and Nate show finished dead last, but we are coming after Clint and the gang next year.
The best new site of 2007 is the Hard Rock Park Blog. This site has kept us up to date with all of the happenings at the new Hard Rock Park. The Hard Rock Park Blog captured 49% of the vote, just in front of CoasterCapture.com which has 41% of the vote. The Hard Rock Park is opening in just a few months and the Hard Rock Park Blog will keep you updated on everything happening at this highly anticipated park.
Great Adventure Source is the winner of the best park related site. It captured an impressive 52% of the vote. Great Adventure Source is the biggest unofficial guide of Great Adventure. They have been covering the lastest happenings at the park for years now, and I think that really helped them excel. They have a huge forum base and great content. With all of the recent news involving Great Adventure, Great Adventure Source has been the site to look to for the latest updates. Congratulations to Great Adventure Source.
I’m not sure how much doubt there was in the voting for this award. Roller Coaster Database is the winner of the best site for knowledge based content. RCDB won by the largest margin, capturing 87% of the vote. The other two sites had plenty of content, RCDB is just so large and consuming that there was not much doubt that it would win this award. Congratulations of RCDB for their impressive win.
Theme Park Review is the big winner, earning three different awards including; most interactive, favorite forums, and best overall site. TPR is a huge site with some of the best content out there. They have the most active forums, unique content, and offer trips for every coaster loving geek. I can’t really say too much more about TPR, but congratulations to Robb and the gang on their big win.
Thank you again for voting and making the 2007 Coaster Web Awards such a success. I encourage everyone to check out the winners and the sites nominated, as they represent the best of the coaster world. The awards will be back next October for 2008. Thank you so much for voting.
