The inverted impulse coaster, formerly Steel Venom at Geauga Lake, has been named Voodoo. Pictures of the sweet logo can be seen at News Plus Notes. Geauga Lake to be waterpark only

Geauga LakeCedar Fair announced today that the rides side of Geauga Lake will be closing completely, and as of the 2008 season the park will be a water park only.

From the article:

As part of the changeover to exclusively water park attractions, a number of the rides at Geauga Lake will be introduced at other Cedar Fair parks.

The property not necessary for the operation of the water park is being reviewed for other uses and development.

All I have to say is this is very disappointing news from a historical perspective. They better save those wood coasters.

Canada’s Wonderland announces Behemoth

Canada’s Wonderland had been teasing us with signs in the park and an online flash animation, and now we can finally see what this thing is. This thing, is a B&M hyper coaster named Behemoth. The coaster marks CW’s largest investment into the park. A few quick stats; 230ft high, 5,318 ft of track, and prototype trains. The trains are a first for B&M, 2×2 seating, with the second row flanking the first row, giving an unobstructed view of the ride. Looks pretty cool if you as me.Behemoth Layout

Looking at the layout, the ride looks very similar to Nirto at Six Flags Great Adventure. You can see videos, more pictures of the layout, and a whole bunch more at the coaster’s site located here. This is sure to be a hit for Canada’s Wonderland, as most B&M hypers tend to be loved. There is also a downward helix, a personal favorite of mine. I can’t wait for the offseason (well not really) to see pictures of Behemoth’s construction.
