For the most part, every enthusiast is familiar with the two titular amusement park companies Six Flags and Cedar Fair. And any enthusiast worth their salt knows that the battle between the two regional chains is never ending, and filled with animosity. However it has come to my attention by way of comments made to me by friends and readers that not everyone is familiar with this rivalry, nor are they really familiar with the companies in question (well, mostly Cedar Fair). So, to remedy this situation, I am going to …

This year I decided to embark on the greatest of theme park halloween scare tactics, sliding. Sliding, for those of you that are unaware is done by wearing a pair of gloves that have various metal pieces glued on to them and kneepads. The idea is that you slide towards the park guest and scare them out of their mind, which, when it is dark and people are already jumpy, is a fairly easy task to accomplish.
I successfully created a pair of gloves for the first time this year due …

Disney has released what is one of, if not the most impressive website they have ever unveiled. Alright, so perhaps that isn’t saying a whole lot, given their previous track record of slow loading and cumbersome websites, something I have maligned rather consistently given my fairly frequent use of Disneyland’s website. However, I am quite happy to announce that they have created a website that is very interactive, quick and very theatrical. But don’t take my word for it, check out your favorite Haunted attractions spotlighted here: http://www.disney.com/HauntedHolidays

Busch Entertainment has been sold to the Blackstone Group, details of which can be found in the link below. My thoughts on the deal? Sounds pretty fantastic – I look forward to see what Blackstone does with the parks as I have a LOT of confidence in their managerial skills (I believe they own or manage at least some of the Hilton Hotels).
So what do you guys think? Apprehensive? Or excited?

Less than four months remain until the debut of Halloween Horror Nights and this bit of news was released today. It would appear that we’re going to see another popular horror franchise make it’s way to Universal Studios Hollywood – this time, that franchise is Saw. I am a fan of the concept, and has been proven to me over the past two Horror Nights I have been to, that will be sufficient when all is said and done.

A fairly new trend among amusement parks (theme parks, whatever) is tying in a new film with a new ride in order to better advertise the film and ride, such as we are seeing with Six Flags Magic Mountain’s new roller coaster Terminator: Salvation: The Ride. Stupid double colon titles…
Now to me, this seems like a VERY risky move for the park. You’re betting the marketability of a ride on a movie that may or not be a success (speaking of word of mouth only, you’re kidding yourself if you …

Six Flags held their year end conference call the other day and boy did they give us some interesting information. The first of which is that Six Flags Over Texas’ Texas Giant is going to be closed for all of the 2010 season. It will receive a 10 million dollar rehab! According to the article, “This would be the largest ride renovation in the history of the company. New trains, a more comfortable ride, a faster ride with additional features all with the intention of restoring this famed coaster to …
