Did you know that Worlds of Fun had a blog? I’ve been subscribed to it for the past few months and there hasn’t been that much activity but today they posted some pretty neat pictures. The are like the Cedar Point pictures but there is snow in these pictures.

I don’t know why I find it so fascinating, but what happens in the off-season at parks is really cool. We don’t really get to see what happens when the parks close their doors. It’s nice that a few parks have allowed us to peer into the year long happenings at the park.

The last few posts on the HoliBlog have been teasing us for an addition for next year. It looks like the cat will be out of the bag tomorrow at 9. The cool thing, they are putting the announcement up on YouTube. Holiday World continues to impress me because they continually embrace technology. For a park “in the middle of nowhere,” they are on the cutting edge of things to do on the internet. While YouTube has been around for years, I think Holiday World will be the first to self promote an announcement on it. Things like this and their HoliBlog really show that they care about their park and the people who visit it.

Michigan’s Adventure has updated it’s site with a few construction pictures for Thunderhawk. As of right now the track is sitting in the parking lot and they are working on some land clearing. From the looks of the pictures, Thunderhawk will be located behind Wolverine Wildcat. When the coaster is complete, the park will have filled in the area around the lake completely with rides.

I’m hoping that they will add a few smaller flat rides to the area, since there will be two coasters in a row. I’m also hoping that they make a path from the waterpark area to the amusement park area since they will basically be touching. That would complete the all important circle of the park.

On a side note, when I was writing this I looked at the Michigan’s Adventure park map, have you ever seen a park map with the parking lot being so predominantly displayed?

So we have been doing this podcasting thing for a little while now (coming up on one year actually) and we have yet to tell you how we do it. There are a lot of quality coaster related podcasts out there, but I think there is room for more. I’m going to explain, step by step how we record, edit, and publish our podcast in hopes of getting a few more out there.

To begin with, podcasting is basically recording your voice and putting it onto the internet for others to hear. Secondly it does not require a lot of technical skill, if you do it our way, and can be done at little or no cost. Before you begin recording, you need three things; a microphone, editing software, and a place to publish your completed file.

There has been a lot of talk about Disney’s California Adventure’s announcement. We even talked about it on our last podcast. Let’s break down exactly where the money is being spend, and what the areas will possibly look like. Lucky for us, Disney is really big on concept art so there is a ton of it out there.

The image to the left is the best one that I have found that really gives you a sense of everything that is going to be happening. The first thing is that they are going to be redoing the entrance.  There is a model to show exactly what it is going to look like and some concept art helps cement the idea. They are getting rid of the horrible impression of the Golden Gate Bridge, the ticketing area, and the California statue in the front of the park. They are replacing all of that with what you see in the model. I for one think this will be a great improvement over what is currently there. (more…)
