Inspired by the re-release of Captain EO at Disneyland, I strike again with my top five retro attractions. In other word’s, my top five rides that don’t exist anymore. This is comprised of both ride’s I rode, and ride’s I wish I could have rode. So, let’s get down to business!
Also, be sure to vote in the poll in the first comment of this post! Thanks!
#5. The Big Bad Wolf.
The most famous of all the Arrow Suspended coasters, The Big Bad Wolf was renowned for its beautiful landscape and thrilling …

Captain EO debuts at Disneyland today, according to the Disneyland Twitter account. A line began forming at 12 this morning and the ride is now open to all those eager (crazy) Michael Jackson fans. There is still no word on the possibility of the ride coming to Walt Disney World but the rumors say that it all depends on the success of Captain EO at Disneyland.
Do I think it will be a success? Of course.
Does this mean that I am excited to see it? Not at all.
If it was up …

Did you like The Matrix? I, Robot? How about Minority Report? If yes, then you’ll likely be excited about the new Robot Land amusement park coming to Incheon, South Korea in 2013. As was mentioned in an article on The Coolest Gadgets, Minority Report really didn’t have any robots, but no matter, it’s a great movie. The land is to feature rides themed to movies like this (are they going to be paying for the rights to these movies, or just going for it?) and perhaps others like… Transformers… or …

Remember Kansas’ only amusement park? Okay, minus the “Zonkers” and “All Star Adventures”. The first of which is a former Jeepers and the other of which, well, looks rather abysmal. I’m obviously talking about Wild West World, what had at first glance appeared to be the salvation of Kansas theme park lovers.
However, after only one year in operation the park died. Blaming the lack of money on the large amount of rain, owner Tomas Etheredge tried to make it sound like it was just an amount of bad luck. After …

DateLine Disney’s Twitter account said that Captain EO would be open for Cast Member testing tomorrow. This is generally a sign that the attraction is in its final stages and will be opening soon. So many speculated that the ride would be opening up for Valentine’s Day weekend (because Michael Jackson just screams romance, right?). However, a quote from Al Lutz states that this is likely not the case.
“Hundreds of Disneyland Cast Members will be testing Captain EO on Friday afternoon, but don’t expect it to open this weekend as …

Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
Dick Kinzel’s response would likely fall into the “no” category after the news came out that a Texan investment company (Q Investing) is planning on voting “no” on the Apollo acquisition with his 9.8% stake in the company. The company is urging other investors to do the same, and many will. There has been a growing discontent with the sale, especially of late when stocks have been trading significantly higher than when the deal was first announced ($11.58 at the time of this …

For those of you that have seen it, especially if you were a kid at the time, The Electrical Parade is a masterpiece. And even if you have become jaded in recent years, it likely still holds a special place in your heart. If you fit into this group, and live in the Orlando area, it is time to rejoice. According to the Disney Parks twitter account, The Electrical Parade is going to return to Walt Disney World this Summer. And if you live in the Los Angeles area, you’re …

I’ve never been great at concise titles, and for that, I apologize. The title, as usual, speaks for itself. I feel like it needs no explanation. It would be like having someone expound on what Jabber the Shark is saying. Thanks, we think you have said enough, so please, wrap it up. But I digress. This is a list of the five non-Disney parks I want to go to most, not a list to explain why my post titles are incredibly long.
The lack of Disney parks should be rather self …

The Mason City Council has rejected a plan that would have added a three percent ticket tax and a five percent ticket tax on the Cedar Fair amusement park. The proposed taxes were aggressively fought by the park, claiming that it would hurt business. An article in the Cincinnati Business Courier can be found here.
I am inclined to agree with Kings Island on this one. Having lived in California my entire life, I am all too familiar with increasing or adding taxes in order to boost revenue for something as vague as …

In a press release given out by Six Flags just over an hour ago, the Kentucky Kingdom park is being closed permanently. Citing a breakdown in lease negotiation with the Kentucky State Fair Board, the park will be closed immediately and permanently. The press release from Sixflags.com is quoted below.
“Six Flags announced today that as it nears the scheduled end of its restructuring process, it has decided to reject its lease with the Kentucky State Fair Board relating to the Kentucky Kingdom park. In recent weeks, Six Flags had proposed a …
