Clementon Amusement Park, in Clementon NJ, has demolished the Jack Rabbit roller coaster, after 89 years. It operated 84 of those years, and has been SBNO since 2002. It is no longer S or O. When it was still operating, it was the oldest continuously operating coaster in the world. It was my very first coaster, and I’ll certainly never forget it. It was a fairly tame family coaster, but very smooth and featured quite a bit of airtime.

They’ve introduced L.A.’s first ever indoor extreme sky-diving wind tunnel. It takes you up 30ft, at wind speeds of 125mph. Check out this great video, the photo, and be sure to read the full press release…

Breaking news, you heard it here first… Along with a renaming of the park to California’s Great America, a Top Spin named Firefall in 2008, and a GCI in 2009, it sure looks like they won’t be letting the 49ers buy the park. The GCI will stand at 104ft, travel 52mph, at a 2 minute length, and feature a station-fly-by. You can read the full press release here: click me

Universal Studios Hollywood is enhancing its VIP Experience. With this experience, guests will now be able tour previously “off-limits” areas. Along with front of the line access, guests will get an elegant continental breakfast at a VIP Lounge, and travel around the backlot in groups of 15 or less. The experience has been extended almost 2 hours, and will “include a private tour of the production facility where movie set and scenic design as well as lighting techniques are created.”

Breaking News out of Cedar Point… Maverick needs three sections of track replaced, and the opening will be delayed until early June, or so they hope. The modifications are already underway, but I’d imagine it will take a little while for Intamin to manufacture the pieces.
I’m guessing a TON of people were counting on this ride being open on their May and Memorial Day Weekend trips, but it won’t be. Score: Intamin 2 Cedar Point 0
