What is RSS?
RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” I know that isn’t very descriptive, but what it breaks down to is this: instead of you visiting several sites a day to see their newest updates, they send you a message to tell you that they have updated. In essence Coasterdom will tell you every time it updates. Pretty cool right?
How to use RSS
To use an RSS feed you must have an RSS reader. Two of the most popular readers today are Google Reader and Bloglines. I personally prefer Google Reader, but both are solid, web-based, free options. Instead of visiting dozens of websites each day, you can now go to one and view updates that have taken place on all of your favorite sites.
Finding an RSS Feed
There are several ways to locate an RSS feed on a website. The first is to look for an RSS button, like the one at the top of the page. There are literately hundreds of different buttons out there, but the orange icon at the top of the page is the most common. Below are a few more examples of RSS icons.

Another way to find an RSS feed is in your address bar. The newer versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer have an RSS icon appear on the right hand side of the address bar when the browser deceits the presence of an RSS feed. The final way to find an RSS feed is to look for linked text that says “RSS” in it.
