LOST Attraction In The Works?
Movieline.com has reported that Disney is workshopping a new attraction themed to J.J Abrams’ “LOST” television show. The show’s last season premiers on the 2nd of February. The attraction is said to be utilizing the Kuka arm technology used in the “Knight’s Tournament” attraction at Legoland and the “Sum of All Thrills” which just opened at Epcot. Not only that as I’m sure some of you are aware, this technology is being used on the Harry Potter roller coaster coming to Universal Studios in Florida within a year.

Now if you just leaned back in your chair and said “Ah” you are not alone. It would not surprise me in the least if Disney were to fire back with a similar ride if they had the technology figured out and a good story to work with. As the Movieline article says, Disney had originally passed on the Kuka tech because of poor capacity problems. However, their source claims that Disney has solved this problem and is ready to proceed.
Now, if this is all true, and in my mind that is a big if. We still will not be seeing a LOST attraction for a few years, which would put it about two years after the show’s official endpoint. While I certainly think it is a marketable franchise, both in its’ popularity and the fact that it is a great theme for an adventure ride, I wonder if Disney would have the guts to go for this.
Regardless, the mere possibility of such a ride is very exciting to me, and I will keep you all posted on future developments.
