Disneyland Resort Update: 5/13/09
After applying at Knott’s yesterday morning, a friend and I decided to go to the Disneyland Resort for a couple of hours so we could check out the newly themed Mickey’s Fun Wheel (Knott’s is only ten or fifteen minutes from Disneyland by city streets). So here are a few pictures from Disney’s California Adventure and Disneyland, enjoy!
The Food and Wine festival is in full swing at California Adventure, and while I have not taken part in it before, it’s a relatively big deal around here (mostly for those in the 40+ crowd is what I have found).
A look at one of the show areas where they do… well whatever it is that they do.
Here is a look at all the improvements we’ll be seeing at the California Adventure Resort ver the next fewk weeks. Next on their agenda is the removal of the Golden Dreams building, which will be replaced with a Little Mermaid attraction (You can see her in the center-right portion of the map).
It looked like these guys were going to be doing some photographing of the work area. I decided to take a leaf from their book and do the same.
Here is a look at the paltforms that are all along the center of the now empty lagoon. I couldn’t tell you for sure what the little structures are for sure, but I’m assuming they are some kind of water spraying devices.
What you all came for…! It looks fantastic, a huge improvement over the artsy Sun Smile.
This is a look at where the viewing area will be for Walt Disney’s World of Color.
The backside of the wheel. This actually looks identical to the previous incarnation. They didn’t change the queue either, which is a little disappointing.
Now here’s something they DID change.
A couple pictures from the top of the wheel…
A staging area for the Carsland and other construction projects going on in the park. You can see a bit of the Carsland construction area at the top of this picture.
Here you can see the lights on the top of the wheel, as well as another look over the platform.
And a picture from Disneyland to close the update…
The disassembled Astro Orbiter. We saw the arms being repainted next to the tram route (behind a mesh wall) on our way back to the parking garage.
So, thanks for reading guys!
Until my Six Flags Magic Mountain update later this month…
