Revenge of the Mummy is Crowned Best Ride In America!
Yesterday the Theme Park Insider tournament to find “The Best Ride in America” closed with Revenge of the Mummy (Universal Studios Orlando) taking down Millennium Force (Cedar Point) – much to the Cedar Point fan’s dismay (very.. vocal dismay). Despite some late round shenanigans that caused today’s poll to close early (Automated Bot’s were being sent to vote for Millennium Force) the tournament was largely a big success – especially for Theme Park Insider’s traffic! Holy toledo!
Now, because I can’t help but insert my own opinion on the winner.. I think Revenge of the Mummy is a very deserving ride, granted I’ve only been on Hollywood’s version (although the Orlando version is supposed to be superior anyway…) . It has everything The Best Ride In America should have, a good atmosphere, an exciting ride, good story, everything… It combines theming and thrills for a spectacular adventure. You certainly won’t see me complaining!

To be fair, Millennium Force is a VERY good roller coaster – not my favorite at Cedar Point, but it is a great ride. Deserving of this title? Eh, not in my opinion. But for those of you who know me, and have read my posts in the past, you know I generally favor theming to thrills.
So, what are your thoughts? Do you prefer the theming and story of Revenge of the Mummy? Or do the thrills of Millennium Force win you over?
Also, be sure to check out Theme Park Insider to see complete coverage of the now ended tourney.

I’m surprised it won becasue I wasn’t a huge fan of the ride last time I went on it. I went on the Cali version. MF on the other hand I have always loved.
While a lot of people were surprised that it won the contest, I think less were surprised that it beat out Millennium Force. Next year, they’ll be doing four separate brackets for thrill rides, themed rides, dining and shows. Then the top four will compete in the end.
That should be interesting :].
