This new beauty from GCI is slated to open on April 10, 2009. We bring you a testing video care of GCI. The coaster features a length of 2460ft, a height of 90ft, a top speed of 47mph, and 2 tunnels that travel under a log flume. Love what they say at the end “…and that is the real El Toro.” I love me a GCI any day of the week, but I don’t think it’ll top the original El Toro.

West Coaster Bash was held last week and from the sound of it, it was a blast. During construction tours given of Terminator Salvation: The Ride a lot of great information was shared. A few videos have appeared that show the full talk that was given.
I’m 3000 miles away from SFMM and I’m a bit excited to see what they are going to do with the coaster. The layout looks fun, but the bigger thing is the theme they are going to be putting into the coaster. How exactly are …

Six Flags New England has confirmed the new name of Superman: Ride of Steel as “Bizarro.” Now I’m not Superman junkie but I believe that Bizarro is part of that brand. Here is the Wikipedia page.
I think my favorite part of the Wikipedia article is the following quote.
…the term Bizarro is used as to describe anything that uses twisted logic or that is the opposite of something else
Ok, that makes sense, but purpke is not the opposite of red (and I’m colorblind). I’m excited to see how they tie this …

I am a little bit late, but I really wanted to plug this site before the tournament has run it’s course. Theme Park Insider is certainly not an “obscure” site, but it also isn’t one that I have visited all that often (I just registered an hour ago) but I digress.
They run an annual best ride in America tournament, and I think it’s really a clever idea. I could go on and on explaining how it works, and what a big fan of the idea I am (I’ve always had …

It was my first trip to Disneyland since November (good to see I’m getting plenty of use out of that nearly $200 pass :/) and I only took cell phone pictures, which can be viewed here. I had a good time, despite it being rather crowded. I’ll keep this short and sweet, here are a few bullet points of what went on throughout the day.
Tons of construction going on in the Lagoon, we’re talking platforms dump trucks, tons of construction workers, etc.
I finally got inside the Sleeping Beauty Castle …

Mr. Six is back, here to replace the horrible “Screaming Asian Dude” as the “More Flags, More Fun” campaign leader. While I’m still not a fan of the tagline (It’s Playtime will always be near and dear to my heart) I’m glad that the “ole boy” is back.
Granted, it’s Six Flags. So they had to do something.. less than extraordinary. He talks. And while I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing (Not like when they made Ronald McDonald talk.. :S) but check out his voice in this commercial. …

I was thinking about my upcoming wedding (June 27th and I expect gifts from all of you) and the nice weather brought about thoughts of coasters. I figured it would be fun to narrow down a list of coasters that would be good to get married on. I have my ideas on some good ones, but lets find out some critera to start off with. Now I’m not actually getting married on a coaster, but a guy can dream right.
This is going to be more of an introduction posts to …

You might be wondering what Alltel Wireless, a cellular phone company, has to do with coasters or even the amusement industry as a whole. Well they recently released a commerical with people picking up loose articles from under a coaster while the coaster is operating. Last year we had several deaths in the industry as a result of this. As a national advertisement, that is just kind of sad. IAAPA has already responded to the commerical with a letter to Verizon Communications, parent company of Alltel.
Our specific concern has to …

It certrainly does seem that Six Flags is taking their older rides and redoing them, much like the “famed” MTV show Pimp My Ride. The best part here is that the title is so apporiate for the amusement industry. Six Flags has three coasters under their belt that have gone or are undergoing a transformation of sorts.
X, now X2 was the first to be done with new trains, new paint, and new elements. Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure is getting new paint and possibly some other things. The final …

Because the best way to show you have guts is to ride a Spongebob roller coaster for as long as possible. Right? Sure.
A local radio station is sponsoring this contest, and the rules are pretty simple: Outride all other contestants and you win a cruise for four with some spending cash (including air fare to and from the closest airport to the ship’s dock). Sounds like a sweet deal to me! The cruise line is Royal Carribean (Is there a Nickelodeon cruise line? Or is Disney the only theme park …
