Toy Story Mania Review

Hey guys, I finally got out to the Disneyland Resort and was able to experience Toy Story Mania, California Adventure’s newest attraction.

The game relies on a “Spring Action Shooter” that features a drawstring of sorts. You pull the string in order to fire the various objects at the various targets on one of the four or five screens you come to. Your spring action shooters fires anything from eggs to darts in several Toy Story takes on classic midway gamesYou are seated in cars that hold four guests, seated back to back and are then spun out of the station in front of the first screen. The very first screen you come to is a “practice screen” so that you can get a feel for the shooter. It also serves as a judge for your skill level which sets the difficulty for the rest of the game. By using this system, a five year old could technically get the same score as a twenty year old depending on their skill/difficulty level. It’s a fantastic way to give kids a fighting chance.

Each screen is hosted by a different Toy Story character. You have Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Bo Peep, Hamm, Rex, etc. The screens all feature a different game and little “surprises” (You pop certain balloons in Bo Peep’s game and you’re blasted with air, etc.) in order to give you a unique experience every time you ride. This ride is a fantastic addition to California Adventure, and will definitely help boost the amount of guests that not only enter the park, but stay in the park. I will be back next Monday and will try to get some more pictures, until then… Thanks for reading!
