Brandon of RCPro has just posted a great update of Aftershock. The coaster has finally started vertical construction but still has a long way to go. I’m pretty sure a good portion of the ride is still at its former park. Hopefully we will get to see this thing in action before the end of the 2008 season.
Check out the rest of the update here.

I was looking at one of my favorite flash game sites today and came across a roller coaster related game. We don’t just have to play Brakeman anymore! In this one, you design the track to hit certain tokens. It may not be totally correct if you are into coaster simulators, but it is worth a try. Click on the image to take you to the game or click here.

Hershey had all of us going during this off season with a “viral” marketing campaign to advertise their new ride and to give us hints about to what it would be. This was done by a series of games and puzzles. Since that time they have announced and built the coaster. They are now in the testing stages and it will be opening in about a month.
But Hershey has not finished with the games just yet. The photos Jake posted yesterday at number 1-14. We received 4 of the pictures. …

Orange County Choppers MotoCoaster – no, Cedar Fair had nothing to do with the naming of this attraction, is set to open this season at the former Six Flags park Darien Lake. While the only update I have to offer is the name, I had to point out yet another pathetic example of the lack of creativity in the amusement industry today.
Couldn’t OCC just stay a sponsor? Have a bike parked outside the entrance, a nice banner that declares them as the sponsor of this attraction?
Like the number of licks …

Several pictures of concept art for SeaWorld’s Manta coaster have recently shown up on the net. This post was meant for a few days ago, but there were a few problems with the site that prevented that from happening. Anyway…The ride has already been announced, but there have been few details out there. The pictures are pretty awesome looking, and if this is coaster is anything like the pictures SeaWorld will have a hit on its hands.
This is really going to be an interesting coaster. I can’t wait to see …

In a dissapointing turn of events the Dark Knight coaster scheduled to go to Six Flags New England this season has been cancelled due to several problems regarding permits. Six Flags started construction on the building for the Dark Knight before recieving the proper permits, which then led to a halt in construction, and finally to this. All construction that has been done up to this point will be dismantled and there is a good chance that we will never see this coaster built at Six Flags New England.
While this …

A few things with X2. First, there are not going to be tunnels like originally planned. This is according to the LA Times Daily Travel and Deal Blog. Kind of disappointing, but with no work started on them yet, this is news I was kind of expecting. X2 will feature water and fire effects, along with music. So they did decide to follow through with a few of the original ideas.
Six Flags has posted testing video of X2 on the rides page. The trains look great, and that’s about all …

The Coaster Critic was in charge of this week’s Weekly Topic. He posed the age old question of steel vs. wood coasters, but he added a little twist. Which would you pick if you could only ride one type for the rest of your life? You can read his article here and view other responses.
I really had to box my head for an answer on this one. On one hand I love steel coasters for their speed, height, and inversions. On the other there is nothing like a good woodie. …
