Two Boys Thrown Out of BGE for Tampering with Griffon
On August 5th, a college aged man named Matthew Sassone was on the Griffon roller coaster in the station with the restraint locked and unable to be opened. Sassibe’s friend, Clayton Mercurio videotaped the entire incident on his cell phone and posted it on youtube.
Busch Gardens Europe, was not amused. Cindy Sarko the director of communications at Busch Gardens Europe had this to say. “We also believe they were trying to get their 5 minutes of fame because they found it necessary to video tape our trying to get Matthew out of the seat.”
According to Sarko it doesn’t end there. “He poked some kind of a metal object whether it be a screwdriver or something to bend the harness to allow that harness to open properly as it should have done.”
The boy deny that they had anything to do with the malfunction of the ride. However Busch Gardens Europe has banned both boys from the park for two years and revoked their passes without a refund. Needless to say, the boys will probably not be returning. WAVY TV 10, the local NBC affiliate, has news coverage of it here.
