Well the poll seems to come out quicker each year and the results are not changing all that much. According to the Steel Roller Coaster Poll, SFNE’s Superman: Ride of Steel took the top spot, followed very closely by Expedition GeForce. What is really interesting is that 4 out of the top 5 coasters are in Europe. Only 4 of the top 10 coasters on the list are from the US. The top new coaster for the year was Six Flags Over Georgia’s Goliath.

As each year passes, we see more European coasters getting ranked higher and higher, and US coasters fall off. Why is this happening? What is giving Europe the edge in coaster design? I really have no ideas as to why this is happening. And to be honest, it’s not that big of a deal. These internet polls are only interesting to enthusiasts and based on their opinions. Out of the top 10 coasters, I’ve been on two of them; Millennium Force and Nitro. I’m sure we will have a further analysis of the results on the podcast on Sunday, but as for now, I don’t have much to say.
