… that is, of course, if you live somewhere where winter exists.
My trips this year were very minimal, and included: Six Flags Great Adventure, Dorney Park, Knoebel’s, Lake Compounce, and Six Flags New England; all repeat visits for me. I was very impressed with some of the parks, and equally disappointed in other parks. I betcha can guess which go in which category. El Toro, while amazing, is surrounded by a continually downward spiraling trashy park that Shapiro did nothing to help. Dorney was great as usual, with no …

While avoiding all of the school work I have, I stumbled upon CoasterMap.com. It’s a slick little addition to Virtual Earth, Microsoft’s version of Google Earth. Basically, all of the amusement parks in the US are mapped to their location and a marker appears on the map for each park. You can search for a park on the left hand toolbar or you can go to a state and look for a ride there. When you hover over a park, the address of the park appears along with a small …

The Jackson Planning Board has approved several changes for Six Flags Great Adventure. The plans involve adding two new attractions to the Looney Tunes Seaport section of the park. An area for educational interaction for children will also be included. This area will be focused on providing information on animals. The area will also have an area to store guest pets while they visit the park. Attorney Ray Shea, who represents Great Adventure, said that “it all has to do with hospitality.” The final change proposed has to do with …

It has doubled in size, added indoor and outdoor water parks, and operates hotels, restaurants, and a marina. Because of that and more, Cedar Fair LP said yesterday that it plans to call itself Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. from now on. “Cedar Fair LP doesn’t really describe what we are anymore,” Stacy Frole, head of investor relations, said. “We’re more than just amusement parks. We’re also live shows, Halloweekends, restaurants, hotels, promotions, and water parks.” You can read the report for the Toledo Blade here.
I don’t fully understand this move …

To go along with my last few posts about Hershey, I figured I might give a little trip report on how it was and everything like that. It’s a little late, but hopefully it is worth something.
It has been almost two years since I have last been to Hershey. Last Friday, I decided to change that and made a trip out there with a few friends. The park opened at 4, which was very nice, but because of a few delays, we didn’t make it till 5. The park was …

I just wanted to do a brief overview of the wooden coasters of 2005, 2006, and 2007… to see what direction we’re headed. In 2005, just one new wooden coaster was erected, Hades. 2005 was a rare year off for GCI, and one of the scarcest wood coaster years in several years. 2006 brought us 4 woodies, El Toro, The Voyage, Kentucky Rumbler, and Thunderbird. Two of those were brought to us by GCI, proving that they are still the wooden coaster leaders. For 2007, so far, we have 3 new …

Going along with the Hershey 2007 construction pictures, I bring you some pictures of a few more things that Hershey has to offer. In total there are about 30 new pictures added to the gallery. The majority of the pictures being in the Wildcat and Lightning Racer sections. In particular, I am really happy with how the sunset pictures of the Wildcat turned out. I had a few more pictures but my camera decided that it did not like to autofocus on Friday. I only put up the higher quality …

On Friday the 13th, I made a trip over to Hersheypark for Hershey in the Dark. I gotta say, this is one of my favorite times to visit a park. There were no lines, many rerides, and loads of fun. While I was there, I wanted to see how the 2007 construction was going for The Boardwalk at Hersheypark. I was astonished at how much work was already done.

I’ll be keeping this short and sweet again. If you wanna skip this, just read the summary at the bottom, that I’ve bolded.
PPP was everything i’d hoped it would be, and then some… and then some more. For only $15, you get: unlimited rides from 5-10pm, free ride on skyride, 1 free game, 2 slices of pizza, 1 soda, and of course, as always, free parking.
We arrived at 5 and left at 10. Phoenix was delivering what seemed to be more airtime than it ever has before. I was literally …
