Apparently, the Son of Beast roller coaster at Paramount’s Kings Island had a bit too much fun with its riders. After one of the rides drops, a large jolt was felt that caused these injuries. You can read more here.
Cedar Fair has recently completed the purchase of Kings Island — not to mention the rest of the chain — and this is what happens. I really hope Cedar Fair can come in and fix the overly rough ride Son of Beast gives. When a ride is so rough that it leads to something like this, there’s no telling what else it may be capable of. Let’s be thankful that nobody was killed.

first off they fixed the ride on the off season to make it not as rough as it was and what happened could have happened on anyother wooden coaster out there. i hope they keep the ride because its one of the best in the park. and just because of this little problem i will not stop riding it if it dose reopen. many rides at pki have malfuntions and this just happened to be one the son of beast was released to be the sequel to the meanest rollercoaster in history and this is its way to say that i am meaner then then my father!!!!
Trint,PKI is going to keep Son of Beast. They are going to bring in a outside company(Rumors have it that PKI will bring in Intamin or B&M)and have them dis-assemble and rebuild parts of Son of Beast.
According to Amusement Today, the loop in Son of Beast is being removed. This will allow them to use lighter cars on the ride. Hopefully this will prevent further ride malfunctions.
I also hope that it smooths the ride out a little bit… Son of Beast is definitely the roughest coaster I have been on. Usually I like to ride coasters two or three times each visit, but I could only handle Son of Beast once. I felt like I had been “shaken, not stirred”. I’ve also read of many people getting major head and neck aches from this ride. Where should we draw the line? When people are shaken up that much, have we crossed the line from fun to a little too aggressive/dangerous??
