As the 1980s came to a close, Arrow Dynamics was the premier roller coaster manufacturer in the amusement industry. No other company had produced quite as astounding rides, and not one other company could produce rides at the rate Arrow did. This resulted in a boom of Arrow coasters through the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Coasterdom is proud to announce the Coaster Riddles Contest. What is it exactly? Well, the Coaster Riddles Contest is a month long contest which a riddle or a group of riddles must be answered every week. The contest offically begins on Monday April 17th. After four weeks of riddles a winner will be announce and prizes given out. Some of the items up for grab are; Dorney Park T-shirt, Paramount Kings Island T-shirt, and a Gravity Group T-shirt. Trevor Hite – General Manager of Chance-Morgan Manufacturing
The Steel Phantom, built by Arrow Dynamics, opened at Kennywood Park in 1991. When it opened, this coaster drew rave reviews and was hailed as a top-five coaster by many enthusiasts. The thing that made this beast so famous was the fact that it’s second (nope–not its first) drop was the lengthiest during the course of the ride. After plummeting down the initial drop, riders would careen up a second hill only to be dropped 225-feet into a natural ravine. …

Towards the end of the 1990’s there seemed to be a surprising amount of wooden coasters disappearing from the fairgrounds. It was quite depressing to those of us who have a passion for a wooden coaster. Even my home park, Dorney Park, was loosing my beloved Herc in change for a steel coaster. If you really think about it, how many parks have you gone to where wooden coasters are not out numbered at least two to one?
But now there has been a resurgent of wooden coasters in parks …
