Six Flags Great Adventure Opening in 18 Days
My home park, Great Adventure, will be opening its gates in 18 days and I’m pretty excited to get back in there. On March 15th the park is making a ”big” announcement regarding the opening weekend events. I’m looking forward to reading about those. It should be interesting to see what’s changed in the park. According to reports from other parks, the upcharge attractions have been removed, so perhaps we’ll see that the bungy trampolines, rock wall, Ham on Rye VR, and ErUPtion have been closed and/or removed. Perhaps we’ll be greeted by several characters all throughout the park, including the Justice Leage. Supposedly Batman: The Chiller will be open within a few weeks into the season. However, last time we were promised that, and it didn’t open all season. Runaway Train has been painted and the trains retrofitted with individual lapbars. It’ll be depressing seeing El Toro, only partially constructed, and entirely off limits. How long will we be waiting to ride it? May? June?Â
However, this is what i’ll base opening weekend on… whether or not Kingda Ka is open or an attempt made to get it open. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be ready to go, and if it’s not ready to go, than i’m afraid we’re still looking at the same old Six Flags, but just with some extra cartoon characters running around charging little kids for autographs.

I don’t think El Toro will open until August. If it opens before then, there will probably be massive downtime a la Kingda Ka. It would be nice to see Chiller running and Kingda Ka running reliably. I also hope they are serious about their new focus on security and line jumping…it would be nice to see the park cleaned up a bit.
