J2 (i.e. Tsunami, Jack Rabbit 2, Revenge of Jack Rabbit), at Clementon Amusement Park in Clementon, NJ is undergoing some rehab this offseason, after just 1.2 years of operation. But i’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start at the beginning. In January 2004, the first footers were poured at little ole Clementon Park for their first new roller coaster in over 80 years, Tsunami. Opening several months later, in mid-September, Tsunami received nothing but rave reviews. Unfortunately, Tsunami was only able to run for a couple weekends, before the season …

Has anyone else noticed how annoying we are? The 2006 season has not even started for most of the season parks and some people feel the need to start discussion on what is coming for 2007. My only question is why? It seems like enthusiasts can never be satisfied. Talk has popped up on rides for next year at, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Dorney Park, Six Flags Great Adventure, Holiday World, and most notably, Cedar Point. I understand how excited people get about rides and such, but it’s more …

Dick Knoebel Interview
September 6th, 2004
Kevin Toth: Tell us a little bit about yourself, the history of your career, and where things are at for you at this point in your life.
Dick Knoebel: I’m 65 years old now and have been working in the park since before I went to first grade. My only time off was for college and 3 years service in the USMC. I, along with my family and employee team, have built Knoebels into a world class family resort. I’m still actively engaged in the continued growth …

Six Flags. Where to begin? They’ve been up to a whole lot recently. It all began last fall when Dan Snyder began to make a big stink about Six Flags’ management. Eventually he was successful in his battle with the management of Kieran Burke and team out and Snyder’s guys in. The new CEO, Mark Shapiro, began a tour of all the parks in the chain and has been announcing new ideas ever since.
First of all, before diving into the Shapiro stuff, a word about AstroWorld. What were they thinking!? …

I think there is that ride out there for everyone that they just dig, I guess it could be said about people also but this is an amusement park site. You can leave that for your therapists. Just think for a minute about one ride that you just absolutely love. Now imagine if that ride was replaced. What you do?
Many Texans have had to deal with this struggle we the late Astroworld closed forever. And recently the news that the Texas Cyclone has been demolished. To quote the link …

This interview was orginally posting on OnRideCentral (ORC). Recently, Coasterdom and ORC have become one site, and all of the content once found on ORC, will start showing up here.
In September of 2003, Dorney Park announced the unfortunate news that Hercules would be removed, and closed forever on Labor Day. With the bad news came some excellent news, that there would be a 2005 roller coaster addition to the park in Hercules’ former area. Much speculation has been made as to whether this coaster will have underground tunnels, how …

Today marks just fifty days until my home park, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, opens for their 123rd season. After Hydra roared into action last year, Dorney Park is taking the year off from thrill rides and using the opportunity to make some necessary general park improvements. Shortly after closing for the 2005 season an old landmark building in the park, the Dorney Mansion or Gold Mine building, was removed due to poor structural integrity. For 2006 the void left by this removal will be filled with a new Subway …

Well the buzz has been flying since someone posted this link. News of a balloon test for 210 feet also helped gather intrest. After looking at the facts, and the attachments to the link above, we know that the ride is going to be a coaster. I was reading that a few people thought it was going to be a drop tower, but that just does not make any sense with what was written.
The main problem has been trying to figure out what kind of coaster this will be. Everything …

Six Flags Great Adventure is less then a month away from opening and amidst all of the promises from the higher-ups remains another question, when the heck is El Toro getting finished? A look at their construction journal shows that the ride is no where near being complete. The coaster is being built in “bents,” which are the vertical supports for the ride. There are 613 of these bents total for the ride. El Toro’s highest bent count is 176 currently. And not all of those are filled in; they …

My home park, Great Adventure, will be opening its gates in 18 days and I’m pretty excited to get back in there. On March 15th the park is making a ”big” announcement regarding the opening weekend events. I’m looking forward to reading about those. It should be interesting to see what’s changed in the park. According to reports from other parks, the upcharge attractions have been removed, so perhaps we’ll see that the bungy trampolines, rock wall, Ham on Rye VR, and ErUPtion have been closed and/or removed. Perhaps we’ll be greeted …
